Jobswatch: New cinema looking for a Sous Chef

The Chiswick Cinema, which is due to open imminently, is looking for a Sous Chef

The Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the overall management of the kitchen, organising efficient and cost-effective practices to ensure a smooth kitchen operation.

This is a hands-on role overseeing fulfilment of daily service and all preparation in the run up to it.

The Sous Chef will supervise the quality of food, maintain food hygiene standards, and help control labour spend and purchasing budgets to help ensure business targets are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In the absence of the head chef maintain, ordering and controlling food stocks within budget
  • Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
  • Ensuring ongoing team communications, including building internal and external relationships.
  • To assist in managing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
  • To produce food in a timely fashion to ensure smooth service to the customer
  • Helping the head chef to develop new dishes and menus
  • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins

Essential Skills

  • 3 to 5 years' experience as a chef
  • Good communicator and ability to work as a team
  • Proactive and 'hands on' approach
  • An appreciation and understanding of fresh food and quality ingredients
  • Passion for baking and creating
  • Food Safety Level 2 desired
  • Punctual, positive and reliable
Full time, 40 hours per week – over seven days

They are offering an annual salary of £28,000
