EURO 2020 ended last week with a bitter heartbreak for England fans after losing on penalties to Italy in the Final.

Bees fans however also kept their eyes on Denmark, Finland, Turkey and Sweden too, as they each had at least one Brentford player included in their squad.

First up was Halil Derviolu who played for Turkey and crashed out at the group stages with zero points.

Derviolu played two matches for a disappointing Turkish side, first in the 3-0 defeat to Italy in Rome and then in the 2-0 loss to Wales in Baku.

In total he only managed to play 29 minutes and during that time he had one shot attempt, three passes completed, two tackles, two fouls committed and received one yellow card.

Second in action was Marcus Forss of Finland, who was also eliminated at the group stages, with three points.

Forss played two matches for a Finnish side that started strongly with a 1-0 win over Denmark in Copenhagen but were then eliminated after losing their next two games against Russia and Belgium.

The Brentford forward played only seven minutes in total throughout the whole tournament, with a short stint in that extraordinary game against Denmark where Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch, and with an even shorter appearance in the 2-0 loss to Belgium.

The two Brentford players that featured most heavily in the Euros were Mathias Jensen and Christian Nørgaard who both played for Denmark.

Jensen played in all six of Denmark's games on their way to the semi-finals, before losing 2-1 to England at Wembley.

During that time Jensen managed to play 142 minutes, registering one assist, two shot attempts, two tackles and four fouls committed.

Unfortunately for him and his national team, one of those fouls was on Raheem Sterling in the Danish penalty area, which resulted in an England penalty, which was dispatched by Harry Kane at the second attempt.

His fellow countryman and fellow Bee, Christian Nørgaard played in five matches for Denmark, only missing out on the first group game against Finland.

Nørgaard played 161 minutes, during which he completed 90 passes, with a passing accuracy of 87%, made two tackles and conceded only one foul.

Finally, the last Brentford player to be involved in Euro 2020 was Pontus Jansson who was part of the Sweden squad that was knocked out by Ukraine in the round of 16, but he didn't feature in any games for the Swedes.

Now that the Euros are over, the five Brentford players will have a few weeks off to recover, before joining up with the rest of the squad ahead of the club's first Premier League season which kicks off in less than a month on August 13.
