Hounslow students celebrate A-Level success

Students from schools and colleges across Hounslow have received their A-Level results, with a collective pass rate of 98.3%.

For the first time in two years, the grades are based on examination performance rather than teacher assessment.

For these students this was their first experience of sitting public examinations, given that two years ago they saw their GCSE examinations cancelled because of lockdown restrictions associated with the pandemic.

Cllr Lily Bath, Cabinet Member for Children, Learning and Employment, said: "I want to congratulate every student in Hounslow receiving A-Level results, despite the challenges and disruption to education over the last few years you have remained focused and determined to succeed.

"Having never sat a public examination before these results are an even bigger achievement.

"They are a testament to the hard work of students and our brilliant schools and teachers that continue to deliver high standards of teaching, recognised by the results each year and Ofsted rating every school in the borough 'Outstanding' or 'Good'."

Mr Mike Rose, Deputy Head of the Heathland School, said: "We are all so proud of our students receiving their A Level results. They worked incredibly hard, engaging with their teachers, and providing commitment and support to one another along the way.

"They all have exciting futures ahead of them as they embark on university courses, apprenticeships or enter the world of work. We wish them the very best of luck and hope that they take with them some fond memories of their time at Secondary School."

Cllr Lily Bath added: "For young people who didn't get the results they were hoping for or who still haven't decided what to do next, the Council's Connexions service is available to offer free advice and guidance.

"There are always options available and everyone's route to success is different so please reach out for support.

"We are committed to ensuring every young person in the borough is equipped with the skills they need to succeed in life and their careers."

Hounslow's Connexions Service is available to provide free impartial advice and support to all Hounslow students and explore their next steps. Call the service on 020 8583 5151 or visit www.hounslow.gov.uk/connexions.
