Hounslow residents encouraged to nominate volunteers to become Coronation Champions
Hounslow residents are being encouraged to nominate other residents who are involved in volunteering to become Coronation Champions.
As part of the Coronation of King Charles III, the Royal Voluntary Service are launching the Coronation Champion Awards to celebrate volunteers who help their local communities.
There will be eight categories of awards that range from animal welfare, environmental work or sports volunteering, nominations are open to all and judges will also be celebrating young people (aged 14-18) to celebrate as 'Young Coronation Champions'.
Cabinet Member for Communities and Equalities for Hounslow Council, Councillor Shivraj Grewal said: "Across the borough, we have a diverse range of volunteers who make an incredible contribution to their communities, dedicating their own time to help others and make a difference to their neighbourhoods.
"We have proud history of volunteering and community work in Hounslow. These awards are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate our local volunteers who often want nothing in return for their hard work and commitment.
"Anyone can nominate a volunteer who they believe deserves recognition for the difference they have made to their communities.
"This is a chance to celebrate our volunteers but also inspire others to get involved in activities like the Big Help Out that will contribute towards a range of good causes".
Nominations for the awards are open until Sunday 2nd April and 500 people will be selected as the Coronation Champions.
