The Hounslow Labour Party has announced its candidate for the Brentford West ward seat after former independent councillor, Lara Parizotto resigned.

Emma Yates, Constituency Officer for Seema Malhotra, MP for Feltham and Heston is Labour's candidate for the Brentford West by-election on 2 May 2024.

Yates was a former administrative assistant for Spelthorne Council.

On X, Ruth Cadbury, MP for Brentford & Isleworth said: So pleased @EmmaJaneYates02 has been selected as @UKLabour candidate in Brentford West by-election on May 2nd (caused as Lara Parizotto has resigned as a Cllr).

"I've known Emma many years, she was a great candidate in Chiswick Gunnersbury in 2022, & will make a great Councillor."

According to Brentford TV, Labour Party members from the area said on private social media chats that the selection 'lacked transparency' and asked if any Brentford West members were consulted.

Despite formally resigning from Hounslow Council and her councillor duties on 18 March, Parizotto says she will continue to serve the Brentford West area alongside Guy Lambert until the by-election.
