There is only one week remaining for Hounslow residents to claim a free tree from Hounslow Council as part of an initiative to reduce the borough's carbon footprint.
Following the popularity of the "Free Trees for Hounslow" scheme, it has been extended and the chance to claim one of 1000 fruit trees ends on Sunday 15th January.
Residents of Hounslow are able to obtain an elstar apple, golden delicious apple, brown turkey fig, Doyenne de Comice pear, Victoria plum, or a Kentish cob hazel nut tree once you register and confirm that three will be planted within Hounslow.
A statement on the Hounslow Coucil website said: "The London Borough of Hounslow is committed to significantly reducing our borough's carbon footprint.
"We've pledged to plant 7500 trees this planting season, and encourage our local community get more involved with the environment in which they live in.
"Following the excellent interest from Hounslow residents in last year's tree giveaway, we are extending the resident offer and giving away 1000 free fruit trees to residents, allotment holders, and schools.
"Our intention is to involve and educate people of all ages in shaping a sustainable cleaner and greener future for the borough.
"Tree planting is an immensely rewarding activity which promotes health and wellbeing as well as pride and ownership within a community."
Trees can be collected from selected collection events, the last collection of these is on Sunday 15th January at Hounslow Heath car park in Central Hounslow.
