Hounslow Council have decided to waive fees for street parties and is offering grants for the Coronation of King Charles III.

The Coronation of King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort, will occur on 6th May and communities are being invited to come together and celebrate the occasion.

Residents can obtain grants from Hounslow Council of up to £1,000 as part of the Thriving Communities Fund to help residents host street parties, after the fees normally associated with those have also been waived.

The Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Shantanu Rajawat said: "The King's Coronation is a momentous occasion in our history and a time for great celebration. I am delighted the Council is once again able to support residents and voluntary groups who wish to hold an event for their local community in marking this landmark event.

"The Council wants to support volunteer and community events, which help bring people together and leave a positive impact on our local neighbourhoods and a long legacy of caring for our neighbours and our local environment.

"I'm looking forward to seeing our communities come together, share food, celebrate friendships and make new ones over the weekend of special events".

Those who wish to take advantage of this scheme have until Monday 17th April to apply and you can find out more of the Council's website.

Cabinet Member for Communities and Equalities for Hounslow Council, Cllr Shivraj Grewal said: "From Street Parties, garden get-togethers to community events in our green spaces, there will be plenty of ways everyone can get involved in celebrating the King's Coronation.

"The Coronation Weekend is also an occasion to shine a spotlight on our volunteers and community groups in the borough who play an incredible role throughout the year to support their local areas and help our communities thrive.

"I hope the occasion further strengthens those values and we see more residents volunteering for the first time and join in on the action.

"The weekend of special events is an opportunity for everyone to get involved in the celebrations and bring the coronation festivities to Hounslow".
