Hounslow Council's Summer of Culture 2024 is set to return in June with a programme showcasing the very best of arts and culture in the borough.

Part of it will be a new outdoor culture initiative, 'Tours & Trails', which is now open for borough artists and creatives to submit ideas for creating self-guided walking tours and trails.

This will allow residents and visitors to creatively explore and redefine town centres and high streets in Hounslow.

The council is seeking proposals of self-guided walking tours and/or trails that can interpret the history and connections of town centres and high streets in Hounslow Central, Feltham, Chiswick and Brentford in new and creative ways, such as food, architecture, visual arts and many more.

Applicants must demonstrate how they can collaborate with creatives, businesses, local history groups, libraries and archives.

Councillor Shivraj Grewal, Cabinet Member for Communities, Equalities and Culture, said: "I'm pleased that Summer of Culture 2024 will come back with more exciting events for Hounslow, where residents and visitors can enjoy the borough's creativity and multiculturalism.

"Through the Tours & Trails' project, local artists and creatives can contribute to the Summer of Culture programme with their innovative ideas, bringing the borough to life.

"Whether it's about food, architecture, music, film, famous faces, or personal experiences, we look forward to seeing some of the exciting and engaging ideas for residents and visitors to enjoy."

Launched in 2022, Hounslow Summer of Culture is an ambitious initiative that celebrates the vibrant arts and culture of the borough.

Running from June to September, the Council has partnered with communities and organisations including art centres, historic houses, museums and libraries, to create a programme of dazzling events, performances, exhibitions and much more for residents and visitors to do, see and experience.

The closing date for submissions for the 'Tours & Trails' project is 4pm on Friday, 16 February.

All tours and trails must be produced in a digital format, including images and sound.
