Hounslow Council in partnership with Habinteg, inaugurated the Upper Butts at Brentside scheme in Brentford on 23 February, to address demand for accessible housing in the borough.

The new development comprises six new homes: three wheelchair accessible bungalows and three two-bedroom accessible and adaptable houses.

Investigating alternative locations, such as land with a number of vacant garages on it (garage sites), has formed part of the Council's work looking at opening up unused space for new homes.

The development has been designed by Levitt Bernstein architects and is one of 13 local sites to have been secured by Habinteg, and the first to be launched.

This is part of the council's pledge to building 1,000 new, high-quality homes at genuinely affordable rents, by 2026.

Nick Apetroaie, Chief Executive Officer of Habinteg, says: "We at Habinteg are thrilled to unveil the first of 13 accessible and adaptable schemes through our partnership with Hounslow.

"By transforming neglected spaces into vibrant, inclusive communities, we're not just building homes, but opportunities for individuals to thrive.

"Upper Butts at Brentside is a testament to our dedication to creating spaces that empower and support all residents whatever their needs."

Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development, said: "I am pleased to commemorate the completion of the Brentside Garage Site project.

"This development stands as a testament to our dedication to providing much-needed housing options.

"It's a proud moment for us all as we witness the transformation of a garage site into accessible and affordable housing for our residents to thrive and prosper.

"I would like to thank our partners Habinteg Housing Association for all their work and for helping us transform this site to better serve the needs of our community."
