Planning chiefs have deferred a decision on whether to give planning permission for a bowling club to be turned into a mini golf course.
At a meeting on Wednesday the council considered a proposal to convert the home of the Gunnersbury Park Bowls Club into a mini-golf course
Lawn bowling has taken place at the site since 1931.
The Gunnersbury Park Community Interest Company (CIC) has refused to allow the bowls club access to the site despite the club having paid for the maintenance of the Bowls Pavilion and bowling green for the last 20 years.
The CIC tied up a commercial arrangement with a company called Putt in the Park.
This arrangement was to use the Bowls Pavilion and bowling green as a cafe/restaurant and a mini golf facility.
A planning application was refused last April by Hounslow Council planning officers on the grounds that it was contrary to the Local Plan which aims to protect community facilities.
Officers recommended that the latest planning application should again be refused on the same grounds.
The Friends of Gunnersbury Park and Brentford Voice have opposed the proposal.
Jim Storrar, of Brentford Voice, told Nub News: "The Planning Committee resolved to defer their decision until a later date.
"The good news is that they did not permit the proposal, but my feeling is that we would have preferred a refusal, as was recommended in the officer's report.
"However, the one advantage of a deferral is that it will provide the opportunity for local councillors to gather more information and perhaps to consider alternative sites for Putt in the Park within Gunnersbury Park."
