Brentford's Royal Mail sorting office in London Road is to be flattened and turned into flats.

Planning permission was granted at the end of last year for 69 flats with a target of 40% affordable units.

They will be built in three blocks up to six storeys plus ground floor along with workspace units to be provided at ground floor level.

Hounslow Council planning chiefs gave the go-ahead for the development subject to conditions and the completion of a satisfactory Section 106 agreement.

The Royal Mail's lease of 50 London Road is due to run out in June.
