The Friends of Watermans Park are planning to create a community garden at the Brentford park.

The vision is to create a 'beautiful space' in the park that promotes health, wellbeing, sustainability, and community friendships.

A survey is now available on Hounslow Council's 'Let's Talk' pages to consider the proposal.

Everyone is invited to complete the survey and give feedback about the proposal and the park plans.

The shared outcome of local community opinion will help determine the final design of the community garden, and demonstrate support so the Friends can apply for grant funding.

Philip Jones, Chair of the Friends of Watermans Park, said: "Watermans Park is such a wonderful space by the River Thames.

"There's so much the Friends would like to do this year and we need help to stage events and to create a community garden. If you would like to get involved please contact me at [email protected]."

Councillor Salman Shaheen, Cabinet Member for Recreation, Public Spaces & Parking, said: "I fully support the Friends in their vision and ambitions for Watermans Park and I welcome their passion, commitment and dedication to this beautiful riverside green space in Brentford.

"In particular, their desire to see a new community garden in the park is a project close to my heart and very much aligns with our plans to transform land across Hounslow into spaces to grow food through our Grow for the Future project.

"I hope residents will come forward and take part in the survey so their views can be heard."

Friends of Watermans Park also plan to hold live free-to-attend music events on July weekends and during the Creative Mile weekend at the end of August.

The survey is open until 14 March 2024.

Watermans Park, which recently underwent renovation, won a Green Flag last year.
