Demolition teams have begun work on tearing down Brentford FC's old ground.

A gaping hole where a wall has been pulled down at the entrance to Griffin Park was visible on Wednesday.

The site is to be redeveloped by EcoWorld London who want to build:

- 149 new homes and "affordable" housing

- A new 1.770 square metre park open to the public

- Landscaped paths connecting the site to the surrounding area

- 65 car parking spaces and more than 279 cycle storage spaces

- Low carbon heating systems, solar panels and electronic car charging

- Extensive planting and biodiversity throughout the site

Griffin Park has been home to the Bees since 1904 and was the only English football league ground to have a pub on every corner.

The ground's name referred to the griffin featured in the logo of Fuller's Brewery, which at one point owned the orchard on which the stadium was built.
