COUNCILLOR Katherine Dunne of Hounslow has appealed for further help from the public in an ongoing murder investigation.

Following the death of Mehmood Shamshi on 21 August Cllr Dunne, Cabinet Member for Communities and Climate Emergency, released a statement appealing for further help with the police investigation.

A murder investigation was launched into the circumstances of Shamshi's death, after the 61-year-old died in hospital with a head injury.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail to a date in September.

Cllr Dunne said: "This is sad, distressing news and our thoughts and sympathies are with Mr Shamshi's family and friends.

"This kind of crime is very rare in Hounslow, and we join the police in appealing for witnesses or anyone with information that could assist with establishing the sequence of events that led to Mr Shamshi being injured.

"Please call 0208 785 8244, quoting Op Tinos or 101 and quote CAD 212/18Aug, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0300 555 111."

Detectives believe Shamshi was the victim of an assault on Staines Road near to the junction of Cromwell Road on 17 August between 10:30pm and 11:30pm.
