Council opens books of condolences

Hounslow Council has opened books of condolences across libraries in the borough and the Proclamation of King Charles III will be read tomorrow.

Today - Friday 9 – a number of public buildings are open for residents to write in the books of condolences. Residents can also post messages through the council's online condolence book.

Buildings open today include: - Isleworth Public Hall; Hounslow Library; Chiswick Library; and Chiswick Town Hall.

All libraries will be open on Saturday and more books will be opened then.

The 'Proclamation' is the official announcement of the new monarch.

Initially read at St James's Palace followed by the Royal Exchange in the City of London, the Proclamation will then be read the following day in cities, boroughs, districts and counties across the country.

In Hounslow, the proclamation will be at Holy Trinity Church, Hounslow High Street on Saturday.

This will take place at approximately 1.30pm – subject to the timings of the national proclamation. The Mayor and Leader of Hounslow Council will attend.

As part of the proclamation of the new monarch flags are raised to full height and remain this way until 1pm on Sunday.

After this time, flags will be lowered to half-mast again and remain at this height until the day after the State Funeral.

Some Council events will be cancelled or postponed.
