The Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Shantung Rajawat, has said he is "shocked and saddened" by the murder that took place in Hounslow in the early hours of Saturday (June 25) morning.

"I am shocked and saddened to hear about the terrible crime that took place last night in Hounslow," said Cllr Rajawat.

"We are working closely with the police to identify who is responsible and I urge anyone who was in the area (who has yet to speak to the police) to come forward.

"As the new leader of Hounslow Council, I am committed to making Hounslow a safer place for all residents. I would like to reassure local residents that more police officers will be in and around Hounslow town centre in the coming days.

"Our thoughts are with the victim's family and friends during this difficult time."

Councillor Ajmer Grewal, Cabinet Member for Community Safety at Hounslow Council, said:

"I would like to reiterate the Leader's dismay regarding the awful incident that took place last night. Violent crime has no place in our borough and we will work closely with the police to bring the perpetrators to justice."
