Hounslow Council has awarded over £250,000 worth of funding to 11 voluntary organisations and community groups from the second round of the Thriving Communities: Hounslow Response Fund.

Afro-Brazilian Arts & Cultural Exchange Institute (Cultural Exchange), Age UK Hounslow, Cranstoun, Creative Spaces London, EACH Counselling and Support, Ealing Community and Voluntary Service, Friends of CATHJA, Indian Gymkhana Club, Ivybridge Link Centre and Mulberry Centre are amongst the groups who have received funding to help alleviate the impact of coronavirus and support the borough's residents.

The projects that have been awarded will help over 15,000 residents of Hounslow.

The charities are supporting residents facing domestic violence, mental health issues, support for residents to re-engage with services, activities and everyday life, addressing digital exclusion and working with children and young people.

Tom Stockton, Community Engagement Lead at the Mulberry Centre, said: "We recently received a grant from Hounslow Council to fund our Covid-19 Rebuild Project.

"Through this we will support the residents of Hounslow, affected by Covid-19 and / cancer, specifically in engaging with hard-to-reach communities to encourage them to go to their doctor if they have any concerns regarding their health generally or cancer specifically."

Rob Kemp, Chair of the BridgeLink Centre, said: "We're delighted to receive funding for a new Community Development role at the BridgeLink Community Centre.

"The role will help to further develop relationships between residents of Ivybridge, BridgeLink centre users and the many local community groups and service providers.

"We are looking forward to working in partnership with Council's Community Safety team and to the positive impact this initiative will have on the local community post Covid."
