Community arts and culture in Hounslow has received a major boost as Watermans announced £1 million will be invested in Hounslow Creative People and Places (CPP) projects over the next three years.

This is part of an Arts Council England national investment of £38.3 million.

The funding will be used to deliver more grassroots-led cultural experiences in areas across Hounslow where involvement in arts and culture is below the national average.

Brentford's Watermans leads the CPP consortium in Hounslow and over the last seven years their projects have brought together community, grassroots, and cultural organisations as partners to take the lead in choosing, creating, and taking part in arts and cultural activities that the local communities want and need.

Hounslow Community Choir, Hounslow Community Brass Band, Bell Square outdoor events and the annual Winter Lights are some of the events and projects CPP Hounslow have instigated to bring local communities together through creativity.

Jan Lennox, Director at Watermans said: "This is fantastic news for CPP Hounslow. Together with our partners and communities, we have worked tirelessly on a transformative journey to develop a colourful, confident and creative Hounslow!

"Locally the dreams and aspirations of people are becoming visible and tangible.

"Culture is in the streets, in shopping centres, in parks and on estates.

"This boost to our funding will enable us to do more, to encourage greater participation and launch a new celebration event in Hounslow town centre.

"Also our residents groups in Hounslow and Feltham have ambitious and inspiring plans to boost access to culture in their area."
