Brentford is blessed by being surrounded by the River Thames and the Grand Union Canal.

But the Canal & River Trust, which looks after the waterways, is in need of its funds boosting.

The Trust has seen a shortfall in fund-raising income and is now appealing to local people to help.

Richard Parry, chief executive of the trust, said: "As the pandemic affects all of our lives, for so many of us, the peace, the calm - the blue health - offered by our local waterways has never been so important.

"They are the perfect place to get fresh air, to feel happier and healthier. It's vital they remain open, accessible and welcoming to all.

"Yet, as a charity, we need your help today. The pandemic means that, like many other charities, we face a shortfall in our fundraising income.

"Your gift will help us continue tidying and repairing our waterways, at a time when it's more urgent than ever that everyone can enjoy them."
