Brentford: Hounslow food bank issues Christmas appeal for donations

Hounslow Community Foodbox has launched its seasonal appeal for donations, to brighten up someone's Christmas this year.
The Brentford-based food charity has issued a list of the non-perishable items they are particularly in need of this winter.
Ealing and Hounslow Community Voluntary Service also posted an urgent appeal today for volunteer drivers to help Hounslow FoodBox by using their own cars to deliver food parcels across the London Borough of Hounslow.

Christmas appeal items:
-Tinned & fresh potatoes or mash
-Tinned meat - casseroles, corned beef, ham-Tinned fish - tuna, salmon, sardines
-Tinned vegetables - sweet corn, peas, carrots, beans-Tinned and fresh fruit
-Instant noodles-Coffee
-Sugar-Biscuits
-Cereals-Jam/preserves
-Small cooking oil-Tinned custard
-Rice pudding-Squash
-Halal compliant, Gluten-free & foods suitable for diabetics-And non-food items such as: toiletries, toilet paper and cleaning products
They also need festive treats such as selection boxes or toiletries sets and as many small new toys and treats for school children as they can get.
Brentford's Magpie and Crown pub has been raising money for the foodbank with a month of fundraising, which was kicked off by a big family fun day on Sunday, 7 December with Christmas stalls and a raffle.
An eleven-year-old boy from Boston Manor helped raise over £2,000 for food banks in Hounslow and Ealing at the event by shaving his hair off.
Donation deliver point: Rose Community Centre, Hawthorn Road, Brentford, TW8 8NT.
Open Tuesday to Friday, 10am - 1pm and Saturday, 10am - 12pm.
