Brentford FC fans will have to wait until Thursday to see if they will be allowed watch games at the club's new stadium.

Boris Johnson has announced that up to 4,000 supporters may be allowed back into football stadiums when lockdown ends.

Up to 2,000 fans will be allowed in tier two areas but zero in tier three. Brentford was in tier two just before the national lockdown was announced.

The prime minister told the Commons on Monday: "In tiers one and two, spectator sports and business events will be free to resume inside and outside with capacity limits and social distancing."

The government will announce on Thursday which tiers each area of the country will go into when lockdown ends on December 2.

Mr Johnson said this was the earliest the announcement could be made because data was still being collected from each area.

If some fans are allowed back in, it will be the first time most have them have stepped into the new stadium where the team is playing its first season.

Which tier will Brentford go into after lockdown?
