Brentford FC say they are still waiting for guidance on Saturday's Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Hounslow is one of eight areas where people have told to travel outside the borough only if essential.

The club, who play Swansea in a bid for promotion to the Premier League, said: "There has been no talk of postponing the fixture. But Hounslow borough health officials when contacted by the club had no idea the guidance was going to be issued last night.

"If and when they receive updated guidance from PHE or Hounslow officials they will use the club's social media channels to communicate the news to fans (and media)."

Brentford CEO Jon Varney told the BBC: "This does need government intervention. We are asking the EFL and FA to speak to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport."

Many Brentford fans heading to Wembley will be unaffected, with large numbers of the club's fanbase coming from neighbouring boroughs such as Ealing, Richmond-upon-Thames, Hammersmith & Fulham, and even further afield.
