An art piece of a monkey alongside the words 'Follow Your Dreams' by Thierry Guetta - better known as Mr. Brainwash - sold at auction for £21,875.

Made up of acrylic and spray paint, the art piece consists of various splash of colour, pop culture references such as the Marvel comics character Captain America and a monkey sitting on a box of Coca Cola bottles.

On the lower right centre of the piece the signature of the Los Angeles-based street artist is inscribed and dated 'life is beautiful 2018 Mr Brainwash'.

Born in France in 1966, Guetta first burst on to the scene through the Banksy-directed film, "Exit Through the Gift Shop", which explores Guetta's journey from an aspiring videographer fascinated by the lives of street artists to the birth of Mr. Brainwash.

After filming artists like Shepard Fairey and Banksy, a suggestion from Banksy himself led Guetta to venture into street art.

Chiswick Auctions, who sold the piece last week, said: "Exploring the realms of modern art, Mr. Brainwash skilfully merges pop art and street art.

"The artist often centres his work around the theme of "Life is Beautiful," a phrase highlighting the goodness and beauty of existence.

"Through his creations, Mr. Brainwash sparks open discussions on life's intricacies and diverse perspectives within society, fostering an appreciation for life's beauty."
