The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for London which could see "flying debris" and "power cuts" as a result of Storm Henk.

Storm Henk, named this morning (2 January), brings "very strong" winds to parts of the UK which could see travel and infrastructure disrupted.

Weather experts say the strongest gusts will be focused around southwest England and south Wales during the early afternoon with gusts of up to 80mph are possible in exposed coastal locations.

The amber weather warning is expected to last until 8pm today in London.

The Met Office says: "There is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

"Probably some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs. Longer journey times and cancellations likely, as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected.

"Flying debris is likely and could lead to Injuries or danger to life. Some roads and bridges likely to close."
