94% of children in Hounslow have received an offer from one of their preferred secondary schools and 67% got their number one choice.

The figures were released on 1st March from the Pan London Admission Board on National Secondary School Offer Day.

94% received an offer from one of their preferred schools, in line with the city average, 91% from one of their top four, 88% from one of their top three, and 67% from their number one choice.

Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet Member for Children, Learning and Employment, said: "We know how popular and competitive places in Hounslow's schools are, so it is great to hear that 94 per cent of pupils have received an offer for one of their preferred schools and that a large majority received a place at their number one choice.

"In Hounslow we are proud of the high-quality education on offer in the borough, backed by Ofsted's inspections that rated every secondary school in the borough as 'outstanding' or 'good'.

"School is meant to be an engaging, enriching, and inspiring space for learning and fun. I hope all the pupils will excel in whatever they do and enjoy their time at secondary school. I look forward to seeing our students walk through the doors of Hounslow's schools next September."

64,648 children across the capital received an offer from their number one choice of secondary schools out of the total of 92,641 who applied for a place this year.

Councillor Ian Edwards, London Councils Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: "It is vital that all children in London have access to a high-quality education. We want to ensure the best possible outcome for applicants to both mainstream schools and for pupils with special education needs and disabilities (SEND).

"It is positive that once again the overwhelming majority of children have an offer from one of their preferred schools. Boroughs have worked diligently with schools to ensure there are sufficient places to meet the high demand for school places across the capital.

"London is an incredibly high-performing region at GCSE level with 90% of schools rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, which means local families can be confident that their child will receive an excellent education.

"We remain keen to work with Government to respond to pressures surrounding secondary school places and to support the growing demand for development of specialist SEND provision at a local level, ensuring that that all London pupils have the best start in life."
