Welcome to our feature What's on at Watermans this week? rounding up the current cinema, theatre and gallery listings on at Brentford's riverside arts centre.

Watermans is West London's living room. Join us to see great films, live shows and exhibitions and discuss it all at Guru, our unique bar and restaurant serving the best in drinks and Indian dishes.

Empire of Light (15)

Starring Olivia Coleman and directed by Sam Mendes, in a British seaside town during the early 1980s, Hilary (Olivia Colman) works at the fading Empire cinema.

A Man called Otto (15)

Tom Hanks stars in this film based on the # 1 New York Times bestseller A Man Called Ove.

Ania (15)

Sun 22 January film talk from 3.30pm. Film Screening at 5pm

The film Ania is a documentary about the tragic life of Anna Przybylska, a high-profile model and actress who shot to fame as a teenager and died at the age of 35. Our Polish Film Talks is an opportunity for those interested in film, especially Polish films, to watch a movie and join a discussion led by our resident Polish film expert, Michael Brooke.

Clifford, the Big Red Dog (PG)

When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment.

A Date With Destiny (NIKLAS GOLDBACH) until 5 FEBRUARY 2023.

A Date With Destiny was filmed over the course of one day in the resort towns Desert Shores, Salton Sea Beach, Salton City, Red Hill Marina, Bombay Beach, North Shore & Mortmar, all situated around the coast lines of the Salton Sea, California.

Rapunzel and the Tower of Doom!

This delightful show for children aged 4+ years is a wonderful retelling of the classic Grimm fairytale, told through the use of beautifully crafted puppets. This enchanting show promises plenty of body, volume and loads of highlights!

The Nosy Little Troll

Deep in the heart of the Norwegian Forest live the trolls – big trolls, tiny trolls and a Nosy Little Troll who has an amazingly sensitive nose…Join us for this funny Scandinavian story starring a tasty brown cheese song, a lost goat and a bushy old troll with green fingers. Garlic Theatre hold their young audience spellbound with wonderfully crafted troll puppets, live music and lots of joining in. For children 3 – 8 years.

Friday 20 January, 8.30pm

Laurie Black's Bad Luck Cabaret

Fresh from sell outs in the basement labyrinths of Edinburgh Fringe and circus tents of Brighton Fringe, Bad Luck Cabaret comes to Waterman's to brighten those January blues. Hosted by award-winning synth-wielder Laurie Black, Bad Luck Cabaret is a variety show with a bite, plus live music!

Chisato Minamimura's Scored in Silence

Scored in Silence is a solo digital sign language performance by London-based Deaf Japanese artist Chisato Minamimura.

David Hoyle's Ten Commandments

Following his smash-hit Diamond, David Hoyle comes to Watermans with Ten Commandments, combining his captivating stage performance with lacerating social commentary.

10 February, 2023, 8.30pm

BioPower

Farah Coppola and Betal Özay

BioPower is an intimate storytelling performance which unveils the beautiful moments but also the darker struggles of a relationship. It's a labyrinth within a labyrinth style performance. While two storytellers act out the ideal couple, their relationship on stage is strongly tested.

31 March, 2023, 8.30pm

Reflections of An Indian Dancer

Balbir Singh with Sooraj Subramaniam

Subramaniam's deeply personal and often poetic reflections on his life journey as a dancer transport the audience into the interior world of the performer, inviting them to explore not only the dancer's but also their own sense of identity.
