UPDATE: Man arrested following fatal stabbing in Brentford

A man has been arrested by detectives following an attack on Albany Parade where two people were stabbed yesterday evening.

Police were called at around 7:50pm on Friday, 12 November to Albany Parade, Brentford where a man was found dead and a woman taken to hopsital with stab injuries.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder this morning (Saturday, 13 November).

He has been taken into custody at a London police station.

The man who was stabbed, believed to be 20 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe they now know his identity and are providing support to his family.

Formal identification will be arranged in due course and a post-mortem examination will take place on Saturday, 13 November.

An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital suffering stab injuries. Her condition is serious, but has been assessed as not life-threatening.

An urgent investigation was launched, which is now led by homicide detectives from Specialist Crime.

While enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances, the Metropolitan Police have said there is nothing to suggest the incident is linked to terrorism and at present nobody else is sought as a suspect for the stabbings.

Enquires are also ongoing to establish whether any of those involved were known to each other.

DCI Brain Howie, Specialist Crime, said: "A number of cordons remain in place in and around Albany Parade, Albany Road and the surrounding area.

"Any local people who have information or concerns should speak with officers working at these location.

"I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or had any interaction with the suspect near the scene but has yet to speak with police.

"Also, anyone who may have footage, whether from doorbells, dashcams or mobile devices, is also urged to check that material and make contact with police should there by anything relevant to our investigation."
