Brentford's hidden rivers have been brought to life in an interactive 'Tube Map' of London waterways mapping out the sounds of our capital's brooks, canals, and underground rivers.

The soundscape, drawn in the style of Harry Beck's famous Underground map has 14 lines, each representing a lesser-known river in London.

The lines all have 'stops' which users of the online map can click to hear the sound of the river at this location, which varies from busy quays to nature reserves.

Brent river, with stops at the Brentford Boatyards, Barge Shed and M4 bridge, are represented on the map created by Ian Rawes of the London Sound Survey in 2011.

Rawes, who runs the London Sound Survey for fun in his spare time, said it took him a year to make the map from recordings of rivers in London.

Brentford residents will be able to further explore the Brent river as part of London Rivers Week, an annual campaign by waterways charity Thames 21.

Free talks and guided walks along the rivers are being put on by the charity's army of volunteers.

One suggested walk along the Grand Union Canal could take you all the way from Brentford to Birmingham!

Listen to the sounds of the waterways here.
