Tributes have been paid in memory of Ali Abucar Ali who was killed last Friday evening in Brentford.

Dedications to 'hero' and basketball fan Ali have been lain out on Albany Parade since the 20-year-old was fatally stabbed at around 8pm on Friday, 12 November.

A GoFundMe page set up in his honour has already raised nearly £70,000, a day after its creation.

The page describes Ali as, "the most caring, humble, funniest young man, don't have a single memory of him without seeing his amazing smile."

Almost 4,000 people have contributed to the fundraiser so far, with £65,745 raised as of Monday afternoon, 15 November.

Many contributors described basketball coach Ali as a 'true hero', with one message saying, "you were the best coach, you taught us we were family. We will miss you so much".

Chiswick Gators Basketball Club said on Twitter: "This is the saddest day in the clubs history. Ali was only 20 years of age at the prime of his life. He will be missed by everyone at the club."

Brentford residents have come together to express their condolences to his loved ones and to everyone in the local community who knew him and have been affected by his death.

82-year-old Betty Walsh was also stabbed in Brentford on Friday evening and is currently recovering in hospital from her injuries.

A family member has reassured residents that Betty, described by others as 'a much-loved local member of the Brentford community', is "doing ok" and will hopefully be seen around Brentford again soon.

Hundreds of people took to social media to wish her a speedy recovery and to get well soon.

Norris Henry, 37 of Brook Road South, Brentford was charged on Sunday, 14 November with the murder of Ali Abucar Ali and with attempted murder.

He will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Monday, 15 November.

Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference 6423/12nov.
